Blog #2

Blog # 2

Being the mother of two young children and at the same time working full time and taking this interesting English course, makes my time watching TV very limited.

But when I do watch TV, after all the chores are done, I really enjoy British TV series. My absolute favourite is Cold feet. It’s been a few years since the last program was broadcasted but I remember it clearly. I could hardly stop crying when Rachel was killed in a car accident. The characters, especially Adam, are fantastic and I really like their Manchester accent.

Another lovely British TV series is The Midsummer murders. No summer without Mr. Barnaby! I’m not sure why I like it that much though; the plot is often a bit silly and quite unrealistic sometimes. It’s probably the picturesque setting that appeals to me, reminding me of the months I spent in the south of England when I was younger.

Almost as good as the British programs are the Danish, I believe. Mordkommissionen is a favourite and Mads Mikkelson is a great actor! It is a thrilling program and it’s also interesting to see the relationships change.

Writing this, I´m beginning to long for the late summer evenings when I make my self a cup of tea, nestling in my TV chair and enjoy the next season of Midsummer Murders. No chores in the world will make me miss out on those evenings, and I´m sure that some pleasure makes me a much better mum as well…

  1. Hello, Anna!

First of all, I must say that I really like your English pink blog. The pink colour made me happy just opening the blog!

Each paragraph has a new theme and you write what is relevant to the theme. This makes your blog assignment 2 easy to read and follow. I definitely think you stick to the ABC-rule – Accurate, Brief and Clear!

I can recognize a lot of what you are writing, which makes your text very interesting. I am also a huge fan of English films and series like The midsummer murders and of course Cold feet. Danish films and series are very good as well.

You have absolutely right! I am sure of that you will be a better mum if you sometimes give yourself time in your TV chair. You picked a good way of ending your text, I think.

I enjoyed reading your blog and I can´t correct you, because in my opinion your text is well written.

    See you on KAU!

    Kind regards, Camilla

  2. Dear Anna!
I think your text is very nice to read. You use a simple and good language which makes it easy to follow. I think your text is quite short, but that doesn't matter at all because you have described your thoughts in a clear and good way and you got everything important in it.

I totally agree with you about the Danish programs. Mordkomissionen is one of my absolute favourites and I totally forgot it in my own blog :). I don't think I've ever seen a bad Danish program, they know how to make good TV.Did you watch "Nikolaj o Julie" that was on TV a couple of years ago? I loved that program, happy endings is the thing for me!!!

I understand that there aren't so much time for watching television if you have two small children but I also think that it is important that you take some time for just relaxing infront of a good program, and I understand if your longing for the summer, watching "midsummer murders".

Good job Anna, thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!

    Best regards
    Ulrica

  3. Hello Anna!

I read your blog with a smile on my lips and thought of all the nice summer evenings I have spent watching “Midsummer murders” and I totally agree with you, “No summer without Mr. Barnaby”.

I can easily follow your thoughts because of the good structure. In your opening you started to tell the readers about your limited spare time and we can really understand why it´s limited. I think it´s something well-known for many people nowadays. In the following paragraphs you are telling about three different series that you like and you also explain why you do it. Finally in the last part you made a good link to one of your other paragraphs. I liked your ending. I can also see that you have thought about linking and transitions devices. I don´t know anything more to comment on. Well done!

    Best wishes from Birgitta
